In Blood on the Sands – Training Grounds, veteran lanista Astinax will lead you through the fundamentals of managing a gladiator through a brutal fight in the arena. A free introductory game for two players, this Quick-start Guide introduces the core mechanics of Blood on the Sands and will prepare you for the many fights in your future! You and your opponent each select one of a matched pair of gladiators—the aggressive murmillo or the agile thraex—and set them against each other on the dusty training grounds of a gladiator school.

All you need to provide is a set of six-sided dice. The print-and-play Guide contains all necessray rules, as well as gladiator playsheets (incorporating ‘cards’), a sheet of tokens, a printable hex-grid arena, and handy reference chart for the combat sequence. It is available in both A4 and Letter (U.S.) page sizes for ease of printing at home or at your local print shop. You are welcome to share the document with your friends, but please do not print copies other than for personal or club use.
